Welcome to Yorketown Area School
Situated in a rural
area, Yorketown Area School is an R-12 school that provides options
and opportunities for all its students enabling them to reach
their full potential socially, emotionally, physically and
academically. The school's values are respect, responsibility,
honesty, persistence and trust. Current priorities are literacy,
student and staff wellbeing, learning technologies and the new SACE.
South Australia's curriculum framework provides the basis for
planning, programming and assessing R-10.
In the senior years there is a wide range of subject choices with
programs tailored to
meet the academic and vocational needs of
each student. An increasing number of
students is involved in
school-based apprenticeships, traineeships and vocational
education and training (VET) options.
Students are encouraged to participate in a huge variety of
sporting competitions
as well as other extra-curricular
activities (eg Tournament of Minds and Pedal Prix).
The school
has an agricultural facility with students across the year levels
engaging
in both theoretical and practical activities. Teams of
students are involved in the
Led Steer and Led Goat competitions
at the Royal Adelaide Show.
